Welsh actor Shaheen Jafargholi has joined the cast of Heated Rivalry Season 2 as Fabian Salah, officially entering the sports romance series ahead of its scheduled spring 2027 release. The 29-year-old performer confirmed that production is actively underway, describing the experience on set as a complete joy after following the show as an enthusiastic fan prior to auditioning.
Speaking at the New York premiere of the HBO series War, Jafargholi explained that walking into an established, high-profile project can often seem daunting. Instead, the environment created by the returning crew proved remarkably welcoming from the moment filming commenced.

Inside the Set: Why the Production Felt ‘Safe’ and Intimate
Joining a massive television production frequently carries high expectations and intense pressure. However, Jafargholi pointed out that the tight-knit team dynamics kept the filming process grounded and supportive.
“Every single person on that set cares so much about what they’re doing, and it was honestly — I don’t wanna say it was surprising — but because of how big the show is, I just couldn’t believe how small and intimate and sort of, I don’t know, safe the whole experience has felt,” he explains.
The actor confessed that he initially felt disbelief at simply submitting a self-tape for the role of Fabian Salah. Without anticipating a callback, securing the part transformed into a surreal milestone in his screen career.
Separating Fact from Rumor: What the Roster Expansion Means
A common misconception among television audiences is that heavy ensemble expansion takes the spotlight away from original lead pairings. In Heated Rivalry Season 2, the production continues to center directly on the intense narrative of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie.
Adapted by Jacob Tierney from Rachel Reid’s popular Game Changers book series, the production integrates new perspectives while preserving the core dynamics that drove the first season’s success.

New Faces Entering the Sophomore Run
The second installment broadens its ensemble with several notable additions working alongside the returning leads:
- Justice Smith joins the ensemble for the upcoming chapter.
- Charlie Gillespie steps into the production as part of the new cohort.
- Emily Hampshire, celebrated for her work on Schitt’s Creek, boarded the cast after sharing a throwback photo in hockey gear and highlighting her enthusiasm for Tierney’s vision.
From British Drama to Global Romance Adaptation
Jafargholi brings extensive drama experience to the ice hockey series. He first gained national recognition as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 before building a steady screen career across prominent television projects.
British television viewers will recognize him for portraying Shakil Kazemi on the BBC flagship soap opera EastEnders from 2016 to 2018, as well as his extended run as Marty Kirkby on the medical drama Casualty.
